Hasegawa Ju87D-5

I just got and threw together the new Junkers Ju87D-5 Stuka from Hasegawa, and boy, it's a little gem. The canopy, weapons, structure, and cowlings are 98% accurate, and the precise fit of the kit is Hasegawa standard. It needed a little filler around the wing roots and the cabane struts on the horizontal stabilizers, but other than minor touch-up, was VERY nice. It basically is the Ju87B-2 kit with 5 unique sprues added that are labeled "Ju87D/G", so it looks like all you are gonna need for the "G" is the Flak 3.7 underwing cannon. One small error noted was that the "D/G" windscreen has a bulged-out area for the gun sight directly above the armored frontal glass; this is not duplicated on the new kit. Yes, there are a few panel lines that are a little off between the B and the D, and the kit uses the fuselage from the "B-2" kit. However, these differences are so minute that, anal-retentive as I am, even I'm not going to complain about them. Because I'm moving to another state soon, my full-blown review with pictures and other stuff will be delayed until late fall. The kit price is a reasonable 19-24.00 depending on where you pick it up; well worth the dinero.
Until next time. |
