ESCI F-5A
By Marvin Banka

A few months ago Bill Connolly asked if anybody would be interested in doing a decal review. I told him that I would, and he gave me a set of Mike Grant decals for the Northrup F-5A in Canadian markings and in 1/72 scale. At first I looked for a F-5 kit, and could only find one from Airfix. Oh well, I took it home and opened the box. It's been a long time since I've built a 1/72 scale fighter and boy was this jet small. I started to build the kit and realized that this was a lousey fitting kit. I called up Bill Connolly and took him up on his offer of a F-5A from ESCI. Now this is more like it, a really beautiful looking and fitting kit. So I built it, and painted it with Model Master paints. I sprayed on the usual gloss kote and was ready for the decals. The decals have to be cut out individually, but ths worked out o.k. even though the decals are so small.
