The Long Island Scale Modelers Society hosted the annual Region 1 convention - NoreastCon - on April 30th and May 1st, 2010.   The setting was an old World War II hangar on the grounds of Republic Airport, home of the American Airpower Museum.   During World War II, Republic P-47 Thunderbolts were built in the very same hangar.   With the vendors on one side of the hangar, the models on the other, and historical displays in between, it made for an interesting and unique setting!  One of the best features was the large windows all around the hangar, which provided beautiful natural lighting for the show.

NJ/IPMS was well represented at the show, on the tables and at the awards banquet.   Among those seen at the show were President Big Bill Schwarz and his sidekick "Sauseeg" D'Allessio, Ed Minto, the brothers D, Mike Terre, Dan Spera, Joe Smith, Ernest Connor, Rogerio “Rato” Marczak and Martin Quinn.   Winners included Mike Terre, Dan Spera, Rogerio “Rato” Marczak, Ernest Connor and Martin Quinn.  Congrats to those who won.

The show - which was very well run - was also well attended.  Word is that the Long Island guys might move their annual spring show RepLIcon from Freeport to the museum.    Here are some pictures that I was able to shoot, before and after the judging.
