July 2008

July has come and gone - already 7 meetings in the books for 2008!!  That means 8 months until the next MosquitoCon, and only 15 months until NJ/IPMS hosts the 2009 Region II convention!!  That's right, the NJ/IPMS bid, submitted by a team led by ex-President & MosquitoCon founder Bill Schwarz has gotten selected to host this prestigious event on October 16th and 17th, 2009! Planning is already underway, evident by the small, but boisterous, meeting going on at the corner table this past month.   Speaking of this past moth, there was a pretty light turn out in numbers, but not in quality, of the models on the tables.

In other news, President Dave Schwartz (no relation to Bill), announce the club will be doing something for the members that are going down to the Nationals next month.  Additionally, the August meeting - originally scheduled for August 8th - has been pushed back a week to August 15th, to accommodate the large contingent of NJ/IPMS'ers who are headed to Virginia Beach.

In preparation for the Nationals, long time member and judge Mike Doberzelecki gave a workshop on what the judges look, specifically at IPMS/USA sponsored shows.   Contrary to what some believe, there are standards, and Mike set folks straight on what will knock your model out of competition faster than a Dallas Cowboy appearance in the postseason.

  REMINDER:
THE AUGUST MEETING WILL
BE ONE WEEK LATER
ON AUGUST 15TH!
