The theme of the club sponsored contest for August was
Axis Night
(or, "bad guy night", as our esteemed President called it).
While the aircraft category was packed, the Land/Sea category was
surprisingly light. In the Air category, Mike Terre won
for his stunning Taube Austro-Hungarian fighter, while Jerry Rinaldi won in the
Land/Sea category for his nicely done German Tiger tank.
Someone noted this was the first model Jerry built that he actually left
on the skirt!!

In other news, the annual club Barbeque is next month, September.
Bring your appetites! Hamburgers and Hot Dogs - and hopefully
some of Jill's famous potato salad - will make up the menu.
September will also see club elections, as Tom and Stan are stepping
down as President and 1st Vice President, respectively. If anyone
thinks they have what it takes to guide the club and make sure MosquitoCon
goes off without a hitch, now is your chance to step up to the plate!
Finally, the contest for September will be "Empire Night".
Anything related to the British Empire (Irish, English, Scottish, Welch,
Australian, Canadian, etc) will be eligible for the special prizes which
will be awarded that night. So wrap up those Spitfires and
Hurricanes, dirty up that Crusader tank and finish off those "Mighty
Hoods"! |
