With MosquitoCon behind us, a good crowd turned out for the April meeting.
Tom announced that this MosquitoCon was one of the most successful ever.
There were almost 500 models on the table! Next year's
show will be on Saturday, April 7, 2007. The theme will be related
to New Jersey, something like, "Jersey Grown". That
means anything made in New Jersey will be eligible for the theme award.
What was made in Jersey, you ask? Try Wildcats in Linden
(where Chevy's were also made), Fords in Mahwah and Edison, and ships in
Kearny (think Fletcher-class DDs) and Camden (where the original carrier
USS Saratoga was built). We may even coordinate
with the Battleship New Jersey museum on the special awards. Stay
tuned! Also at the meeting, Tom Stead received his
well deserved Helen Kennedy Award, which he was unable to collect at
MosquitoCon. Well done and congratulations, Tom!

In other news, the April meeting saw the return of
former President "Big Bill" Schwarz. Welcome back Bill!
